Jelilou Acting Class Free Intro

Create and perform original scenes.  Using dynamic breathwork and improvisation tools from psychodrama, participants draw from their own life experience and create/perform original dramatic and comic scenes.  In this class we bring to the stage poignant life situations accessed through dynamic breathwork that participants want to celebrate, heal or redo.  Every life experience and a story with relationships, dialogue and behavior.  As the drama unfolds, each vignette yields its universal theme with which we all can  identify.  Whether you are the protagonist using the group to re-enact part of your life story, or a group member who is cast to play a part in someone’s drama, this is an excellent training for actors as they will play a wide variety of roles.  No acting experience is necessary.

DYNAMIC BREATHWORK FOR THE ACTOR

Private and group sessions in NYC,  Philadelphia, Milwaukee, Chicago.  (See schedule for dates)

Dynamic Breathwork releases psycho – physical holding patterns that inhibit spontaneity and creative flow.   As participants bring breath and awareness to their present moment experience, deeply held tension is accessed and released; body, mind and heart come into a more expanded alignment  Feelings of being out of sync, blocked, or not really feeling present and grounded,  are all  indicators of a disjointed alignment.  Spontaneity or creative flow comes out of a relationship with self that is friendly, allowing and forgiving.  Bringing breath and awareness to present moment experience accesses and releases unresolved traumatic life experiences that are the source of self=attack and disconnection.  The absence of self-attack is unity with self and that is truly spontaneous and authentic.  In this work, the body leads the way for it is always in present time and know the tensions it holds and how to release them..

This Winter, Jesse will be traveling between the Midwest and East Coast.  She is offering private and group sessions in Chicago, Milwaukee, Philadelphia, NYC, and Lenox, MA.  Check the schedule for specific dates.

BREATHE INTO ACTION AND BREATHE

Feb. 10, 24, March 10, 24,  April 7, 21, May 5, 19

Breathwork/psychodrama/breathwork

This workshop is a clearing process using dynamic breath and psychodrama.  The workshop begins with dynamic breathwork (also known as rebirthing).  Participants are coached to relax, allow and sink into their present moment internal experience with breath and awareness.  As participants relax and let go, deeply held physical and emotional tension comes up to be released.  Many times, unresolved issues or memories from the past or challenging present day situations come to awareness.  Participants are coached to fully feel the experience with breath and awareness; to witness the experience physically, emotionally, mentally; and also to inquire what negative core belief about self is being revealed.

The second part of the workshop takes it a step further.  A protagonist is chosen by the group to bring to the psychodramatic stage an issue or situation that wants more exploration.  Group members are cast to play the various roles in the drama.  The intention of the work is to bring to the stage an issue or situation to explore its storyline/script, emotional content and physical behavior. This allows the protagonist to more fully resolve the situation by fully experiencing it and also to try out desired changes.   ~ The psychodrama is followed by another round of breathwork and sharing which allows the group as a whole to further integrate any emotional content that has emerged from the psychodrama.

Time: 7:30 – 10:30.  Fee $40. per session

The workshop begins with dynamic breathwork (also known as rebirthing).  Participants are coached to relax, allow and sink into their present moment internal experience with breath and awareness.  As participants relax and let go, deeply held physical and emotional tension comes up to be  released through sound and expression.   Many times, unresolved issues or memories from the past or challenging present day situations come to awareness.  Participants are coached::  to fully feel the experience with breath and awareness; to witness the experience physically, emotionally, mentally; and also to inquire what negative core belief about self is being revealed.  The second part of the workshop takes it a step further.  A protagonist is chosen by the group to bring to the psychodramatic stage his/her issue or situation that wants more exploration.  Group members are cast to play the various roles in the drama.  The intention of the work is to bring to the stage an issue or situation so as to explore its storyline/script, emotional content and physical behavior.  This allows the protagonist to more fully resolve the situation by fully experiencing it and also to try out desired changes.  Dramatic and comic theatrical scenes emerge from the process and are filmed.  Actors are trained by improvising many roles and characters.

JELILOU ACTING CLASS
monologues/scene work/original performance pieces
Jan 8, 22. Feb. 5, 19. March 5, 19.  April 2, 16, 30. May 14
Using improvisational tools from psychodrama, participants add authenticity, depth and texture to their work by anchoring a chosen monologue or scene to a relevant situation from their personal life experience.  With this preparation, actors bring to the stage real life experiences that have the same or similar emotional obligations as the character of the play.  As a result, the actor learns to inhabit the character’s role with presence and aliveness that is exciting and believable to watch.  As well as excellent training for the actor, the process yields original dramatic scenes many of which will be filmed.

Entire training cost: $5oo.  or $100. monthly pays for 4 classes.  Participants may join on the first class of the month, Jan. through May, but must make a commitment for the entire month and complete that month’s film work.  Additional charge for copies of filmed work.
